Theo Barry Born


Theo Barry Born is a Research Associate to NPI, offering support and expertise on research projects. In his previous role as Research Analyst at NPI, Theo conducted research and analysis using quantitative and qualitative methods. He has contributed to core NPI reports including London's Poverty Profile for Trust for London, and the Monitoring Poverty and Social Exclusion series for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. He has also conducted research into local government finance and services, and has led NPI's research on the localisation of Council Tax Support. Since September 2016, Theo has been taking the MRes Geography at Queen Mary University of London, prior to commencing an ESRC-funded PhD in Geography. The research, involving ethnographic fieldwork, will focus on housing, precarity and urban marginality in East London. Theo holds a BA Philosophy, Politics and Economics (University of Oxford) and received a distinction in the MSc Middle East Politics (School of Oriental and African Studies). His interests include cities, housing, inequality, and social movements.
