Miscellany
Combating poverty and social exclusion is a stated priority of this government. But success is not assured and reform inevitably takes time to have an effect. With the support of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, The New Policy Institute maintains the most authoritative site on what is happening to poverty and social exclusion in the UK. The material is organised around 50 statistical indicators covering all aspects of the subject, from income and work to health and education. The material covers all parts of the United Kingdom, with specific sections for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Centre for Council Tax Reform website has been set up to make the case for a fairer, less regressive Council Tax that contributes to stronger local democracy. The centre provides authoritative information about Council Tax, presents the arguments for change, and facilitates dialogue between key stakeholders.
This website is part of the New Policy Institute's project to raise awareness of the European Employment Strategy (EES), providing information about the EES, and its relevance to the UK.
The EES is an evolving attempt to construct a unified employment strategy for Europe- over the years additions and demolitions have been made to the construction built on the central pillars of this strategy. Its message can be summed up as "more and better jobs".
