Older people and paid work
The decline in the employment of the over-fifties in recent years is well known. The purpose of this project, which was undertaken for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation, was to research the attitudes and ensuing behaviour of employers, employees and employees’ families towards retirement, staying in work, or possibly seeking some form of new employment, on a part or full time basis.
A major product was a review of all the available literature, which was then written up as a chapter in the book Life after 50: issues for policy and research. This book is available from the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. View/download our contribution.
